I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

So, I really enjoyed this story. The premise is about how these 2 couples make it work in becoming one unit - they all love each other and they are working on their relationship that allows them to have relationships with all parties, not just their respective sub or Dom.

The chemistry between everyone is off the charts. The most steamy scenes, I thought, were between the two Dom characters.

I really liked how the premise was about the family dynamic. However, I felt that Peter was somewhat whiny in this story. And, while I can appreciate him wanting some attention from his original Dom, I felt that this story was more about Max and his insecurities.

It was kind of a toss up with my liking the fact that Swan and Devon took the time to help Max through his issues - but on the other hand, I thought that Michael was trying to split the time. In reality, I think it would be awesome for each of the subs to have more of a voice in this story. To know what they were thinking behind the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and would love to read more.

Dom and Sub couples Peter and Devon, Max and Swan decide to join their lives together.

First off loved the pretense of this story and honestly did love a lot of this story and really liked these characters. So this is where I am going to say the only really problem I had with this story is I really felt like Peter was being left out a lot because everyone else was so busy with Max and what was going on with him or at least that was the feeling I had after I finished this book. With Peter being a Sub like Max I just felt like he should have been getting a little more of the attention too.

Other than that I thought this book was extremely steamy and very hot between these four men. Especially the scenes between Devon and Swan the two Dom's. So I loved the authors pretense of this story and the way he wrote these characters together. I really did feel like these four men fit well together besides feeling like Peter might have been a little left out.

So all together I really liked this story and would recommend this book!

Love this series!

Once again, Sean Michael has delivered a great follow up to his Hammer series. What started with a visit to play at Adam and Matt's Bed & Breakfast in Briar Rose: Blended Family, has come full circle to the 2 Master/Sub pairs becoming one family. It's time for them to take a chance, so Devon and Peter move into Swan and Maxie's house. Along the way, you see how they learn how to work together to give each other what they need. I especially loved the late night time between Devon and Max and the scene where Devon and Swan find their own intimacy without their boys.
As always, I was obsessed until the words The End.....

To make use of these new models in programming languages there must be an awareness of the problems of large scale data. The data base designers can also learn much about language interfaces from programming language designers. The purpose of this book is to present the state of the art in integrating both approaches. The book evolved from the proceedings of a workshop held at the Appin in August 1985. It consists of three sections. The first, "Data Types and Persistence", discusses the issues of data abstraction in a persistent environment. Type systems, modules and binding mechanisms that are appropriate for programming in the large are proposed. Type checking for polymorphic systems and across innovations of the type checker are also discussed. The second section, "Database Types in Programming Languages", introduces the concept of inheritance as a method of polymorphic modelling. It is shown how inheritance can be used as a method of computation in logic programming and how it is appropriate for modelling large scale data in databases. The last section discusses the issues of controlled access to large scale data in a concurrent and distributed persistent environment. Finally methods of how we may implement persistence and build machine architectures for persistent data round off the book.

New discoveries in these fields are made at a rapid pace. This conference brought together active researchers in these areas, reporting their results and discussing with other participants to further develop thoughts in future new directions. The conference was attended by SO participants from 15 nations. These proceedings document the program and the talks at the conference. This conference was preceded by a two-week summer school. Ten lecturers gave extended lectures on related topics. The proceedings of the school will also be published in the NATO-AS[ volume by Plenum. "Doctors prescribe inefficiently. Many conditions, such as hypertension, are inadequately treated whereas others, such as depression, are overtreated. Bearing in mind the plethora of guidelines now available on virtually every sector of medicine, this seems inexcusable. Whether due to ignorance, indolence, or incredulity, many physicians are not implementing the recommendations of 'experts'.

Conscientious clinicians may think that the advice available from the 'experts' does not apply to the patients they see and will want to assess the evidence for themselves, so that their practice will provide the best management for their patients. It is for such people that this book has been written. The writing is excellent and it is embellished by amusing cartoons and witty one-line quotations. The authors have tried, but not completely succeeded, in avoiding statistics. Their extensive personal experience has enabled them to give good examples to illustrate their points, although they also quote widely from the world literature.

They start by emphasizing the importance of evaluating the balance between benefit and harm. Unfortunately, all too often, papers and presentations, as well as pharmaceutical companies, often highlight the benefits of new treatments while saying little about the adverse effects.

The value of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) as the bedrock of evidence-based medicine is unquestionable, but the shortcomings are often ignored-especially by 'experts'. The authors discuss both the strengths and weaknesses of randomized RCTs. The chapter on weaknesses is largely concerned with the inability of RCTs, because of their limited size, to recognize rare side effects. Although referred to later in the book, the unrepresentative nature of those recruited into trials is given insufficient attention. This is a major reason why practising physicians are often sceptical about the results of trials.

Having stressed that RCTs 'rank highly in terms of reliability for evaluating treatments,' one may question the authors' claim that 'at the top of the ranking are meta-analyses of clinical trials'. In fact, as experience has shown, large individual trials may provide more convincing evidence than a meta-analysis.

In later chapters, they consider such important topics as the doubtful value of surrogate endpoints and biochemical markers, and they also discuss whether active controls can be relied upon and whether all drugs in a class are interchangeable. Much attention is paid to the measurement of adverse drug reactions but here, as elsewhere, discussion is focused on practices in the United States, whereas these issues are often better tackled in other countries (where many of their readers will be located).

Overall, this is an excellent book that can be strongly recommended to the target audience which is, as the authors state, ''clinicians and others in the health care field as well as employees in companies manufacturing drugs, devices and other medical products'." (Trials, Volume 9, 2008)

The objective of this book is to make its readers better informed and more critical consumers of clinical research to help them recognize the strengths and the weaknesses of scientific publications. In doing so, the reader will be able to distinguish patient-important and methodologically sound studies from those having limitations in design, conduct and interpretation.

There are no prerequisites for reading this book. The text is basic and has no statistical formulas. Key take-home messages are listed at the end of each chapter. The large number of cartoons has two purposes: First, to make the text easier to read and generate a few laughs and, second, to underscore specific points, sometimes in a provocative way.

Bengt D. Furberg, MD, PhD is board-certified in internal medicine. After spending a decade as medical director in the pharmaceutical industry, he now serves as medical consultant, evaluating the safety and efficacy of pharmaceutical products and medical devices and promoting evidence-based medicine. His brother, Curt D. Furberg, MD, PhD, is Professor in the Division of Public Health Sciences, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC, USA. After arriving in the United States from Sweden, he worked at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health for 12 years. He is co-author of Fundamentals of Clinical Trials with Lawrence M. Friedman and David L. DeMets. His areas of interest are clinical trials, evidence-based medicine and drug safety. The authors have acquired much of their knowledge about clinical studies through the "trial and error" method. Thus, they have personal experience with many of the problems they describe.

...investing in biotechnology stocks...biotech stocks represent a minefield for investors...I would estimate at least 75% of biotech stocks are fraudulent in some fashion...in some cases, the fraud is nothing more than a conscious effort to swindle naive investors...in most others, however, it appears to arise out of sheer ignorance -- ignorance of basic scientific principles, ignorance of experimental design and statistics, etc...this ultimately manifests itself in the FDA's rejection of a large majority of phase 3 studies -- often to the dismay and financial distress of investors...the Furbergs' book provides a concise database of knowledge that will equip any reader with tools that will enable them to analyze clinical research...it's clearly written and, although it is somewhat technical, anyone with a high school background in science and math ought to be able to grasp the basic ideas...

You can learn to love the Middle Ages!

This history of the Middle Ages has it all--thematic consistency, sufficient background to set the stage, logical chapter organization, fascinating detail that illustrates the major themes, impeccable and felicitous writing style, even perfectly chosen maps and illustrations. This volume is intended as a textbook, but anyone with a modicum of interest in where we came from (and might be headed!) will be fascinated with it. It's especially effective in documenting East and West influence. If you want insight into contemporary Muslim-Christian-Jewish interaction, read this book! One thing for sure--you'll never refer to the Middle Ages as the Dark Ages again!
