Very enlightening

This book is very well written and researched and I liked Ms. Hislop's factual style of writing. Not far into the book it suddenly struck me as odd that there is so much effort in understanding female sex offenders, but I do not see this same attempt at understanding male offenders ... they just go straight to prison. Is it not possible that they may also be suffering from some childhood trauma done to them or are in other ways in great need of psychological help. Maybe someone could write a book about that.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I feel that this is a well written and very well researched book. It shows a lot of insight into a very newly researched field of psychology as well as a practical approach for helping professionals to aid and understand the victums.

I found this book to be very well researched, and thorough. I believe that his contains new information that is helpful to helping both victims and offenders. It is a shame that more people in positions that deal with victims or offenders have not read this book.

This text provides an introduction to the numerical solution of initial and boundary value problems in ordinary differential equations on a firm theoretical basis. This book strictly presents numerical analysis as a part of the more general field of scientific computing. Important algorithmic concepts are explained down to questions of software implementation. For initial value problems, a dynamical systems approach is used to develop Runge-Kutta, extrapolation, and multistep methods. For boundary value problems including optimal control problems, both multiple shooting and collocation methods are worked out in detail.
Graduate students and researchers in mathematics, computer science, and engineering will find this book useful. Chapter summaries, detailed illustrations, and exercises are contained throughout the book with many interesting applications taken from a rich variety of areas.
Peter Deuflhard is founder and president of the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) and full professor of scientific computing at the Free University of Berlin, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Folkmar Bornemann is full professor of scientific computing at the Center of Mathematical Sciences, Technical University of Munich.

Very, very short for the price

Normally I get a little irritated when reviewers waste time on the price versus size of the book. The description does include that you're purchasing a novella, after all. This was short, even by a novella's standards... and the price was $3.99. I know the author has nothing to do with this, but the publishers should really reevaluate charging so much money for almost paper-thin books.

I absolutely love the series and cannot wait for Independence to come out on Dec.18th!! There just really was not any substance to this book. Reading the book from Caleb's perspective was fun, but there really wasn't anything interesting about it. You also really need to read all three books (Significance, Accordance, and Defiance) in this series to understand where Caleb is coming from. The book gives you teasers of a couple/few scenes from Caleb's perspective in each book.

Too short, and just not sweet enough for a stellar review

I really enjoy the significance series and I was really excited to read from Caleb's perspective. But honestly I didn't think that I learned anything interesting about him or what he was thinking. It was pretty shallow, and no mysteries were solved, not that there were any to begin with. I thought Midnight Sun was done far better, as I actually learned some new things about the main character and understood Edward and like him more because of it (yes I read it, sue me!). I didn't really learn anything new about Caleb, he pretty much thinks the same way as Maggie. The biggest thing that irked me is that the book was SUPER SUPER SHORT! I can't believe they charged for this! I am pretty mad that I spent a dollar on it to be honest. It was like reading an essay, a short story, not a novella, and it certainly didn't earn the money I spent. Don't waste your time. Caleb thinks Maggie is the most wonderful, special, beautiful, sexy, funny, freckly, amazing woman in the whole world and he can't believe that he is so lucky. THE END!

How To Find What You Need! What a great book. The into said it is good for Content Creators, Bloggers and Writers but really it is good for everyone. You know everything on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt? This books gives you the tools to check those facts, you don't need the salt. We just finished publishing a short biography, Why Is Ben Carson?, researching the information took my staff days. If we had this book we could have done it in an afternoon.

The laser-like resources here are incredible, just the chapter on how to use the "secret power" of Google is worth the time and far more than the cost of this book. You learn how to extract amazing unique data from Google. Just a few simple words that opens up the inner working of resources. Speaking of secrets, yes there really is a dark secret internet that is used only by major corporations and the Government. The author show you how to find it.

You learn how to find statistics. What percentage of blond men are weight lifters? Up to the minute to new sources, the same ones the news media use to find out what's going on. I can go for hours talking about these provided resources. This book will go in my bookmark for every day use. If you don't grab a copy of this book now you will waste time and increase your frustration. Highly Recommended.

Although I would consider myself a fairly well-trained online researcher, I found this book had many different types of sites listed that I don't normally think to explore - as well as some I'd never even heard of before! So if you're not sure where to begin with online research, this book will definitely give you some good information, particularly when using Google.

I was a bit perplexed as to why the author didn't include a section on how to differentiate between credible and noncredible information sources, however. For instance, if you are researching the effects of a particular drug, should you simply trust the things written about the drug on the website of the company that manufactures it? Or should you look to sources like The Journal of American Medical Association for more credible (peer reviewed, double blind studies, etc.) information? Being able to identify and understand the biases behind different information sources, too, is a handy tool in any researcher's arsenal, which I would have liked to see explored here.

However, if you are looking to provide informational products for a living, this book is definitely a good place to start your own research.
